Our mission is to radically change the way our food is produced and consumed, to catalyse new sustainable food systems that balance health and nutritional outcomes with ecological principles that has people and the planet at its heart.
Our mission is to radically change the way our food is produced and consumed, to catalyse new sustainable food systems that balance health and nutritional outcomes with ecological principles that has people and the planet at its heart.
From harvesting a food source to closing the loop on food waste we believe that design is the single most effective way of solving sustainability challenges. We design sustainable food systems that put natural and healthier foods into our homes and places of work. We experiment with and design natural, circular systems that are resilient and productive.
As the world urbanises we see our cities as places with opportunity, to experiment and develop food systems that make people and spaces healthier. We work to educate and inspire people and communities to co-design food systems that work for everyone and that produce more than they consume; reducing our food mileage and carbon footprints.
Circularity and zero waste are our guiding principles. We are not afraid to be bold, radical and progressive in how we experiment with design, architecture or the science of circular systems. Not only are these optimal for food production they are also pioneering in terms of value. Our team of agricultural mavericks have been designing natural systems for 20+ years.
Green Lab is an open innovation lab and ecosystem for individuals and organisations to design sustainable solutions to complex urban food, water and waste challenges. Encouraging creativity, collaboration, experimentation and play, it incubates ideas that make food systems more productive and resilient, and that can put more natural and healthy food on our tables. We have built a series of labs that encourage creativity and collaboration and we are filling it with food entrepreneurs and thinkers that want to build better systems. We focus on food, waste and water.
An open access work space for bio-plastics and organic material research. A bookable messy space for experiments that don’t suit a kitchen or studio environment. Our material lab is for strictly non-toxic material exploration that is pushing to tackle issues of sustainability and limited resources.
A digital makerspace and part of the Fab Lab global network and provides access to high end digital fabrication services such as laser cutter, 3D FDM printers, 3D Paste extruders, electronics bench, heat press, hand tools and desktop CNC. The Fab Lab provides a place for early stage statrups to prototype ideas.
We offer access to over 2000 sq.ft of indoor growing and farming space ideal for insect farming, vertical growing, aquaculture, algae, messy (and smelly) material research and mycelium. Access to running water, deep sinks outdoor space and gemination racks provides residents with a unique space.
A BioSafety Level 1 creative biology laboratory. It features scientific equipment, DIY lab equipment, storage space for your projects, experiments and research and hot desking facilities. Our aim is to create an environment for an emerging bio-circular economy to reimagine all aspects of food, waste and living systems.
We believe there should be more facilities like Green Lab in cities providing a multi-disciplnary approach to the challenges in food, waste and water. With over 8 years experience in developing and designing our Green Lab, we can help you create your own.

We work with a range of organisations developing new materials using organic materials in our Material Lab - taking 'waste' organic matter and turning into bioplastics and future materials. We work on commissioned projects to explore a circular economy.

We take early stage ideas from the 'back of a napkin' through a design methodology to establish product viability and potential to scale. We work with organisations and individuals to explore opportunities in waste organic matter and the creation of new organic materials.
